Northwest Georgia Arts Guild will meet on Thursday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. at the Welcome Center, 309 N. Main St., LaFayette. The theme for the night will be “Reconnecting and Sharing.” All artists are invited to come and to share a recent art piece or two. Beginning artists are especially encouraged to attend. The NWGAG is reorganizing and preparing to be more active in the community to promote the arts, including performing arts. New officers have been elected, and they are: Lizzie Caldwell, president, Kaylee Smith, vice president, David Boyle, secretary, and Sheri Aldridge, treasurer. The guild plans to work with the “Thriving LaFayette” initiative to revitalize the community through the arts and cultural activity. Artists in any medium from throughout the Northwest Georgia region are invited. There will be light refreshments. Artists and supporters may join the Guild by mailing $25 to NWGAG, 309 N. Main St., LaFayette, GA 30728, with a description of interests. One of the first activities of the reorganized guild will be a contest to design a beehive to serve as a mobile arts center.
