City Manager David Hamilton, during the Monday, Nov. 14 LaFayette council meeting, gave an update on the city's PRIDE (Protect-Revitalize-Invest-Develop-Enjoy) initiative.

Hamilton said demolition has been completed on a vacant residence at 110 Flora St., which was one of the nuisance abatement properties on the list of blighted properties. Hamilton credited the owner with following code as well as not having to see the matter go through the entire court-ordered process.

Hamilton said the owner of a property on Duke Street, near North LaFayette Elementary, is in the process of demolishing the vacant residence as well. A court order has been issued for demolition on a property at 704 McLemore St., Hamilton said.

Hamilton said the city is progressing with several other properties as LaFayette continues with the PRIDE initiative.
