We’ve been experiencing a cold snap, which is to be expected in the throes of winter. The more important question is: Will we get a big snow this season? The odds are not in favor of it.

According to the website currentresults.com, it snows, on average, on 2.7 days a year in our area, and we get an average of 3.9 inches of snow per annum. Not much.

Of course, there was that big one in 1993 – more than a foot and a half. That probably skewed the average upward, which says our chances of a good snow are even less.

What this means is that we may have to be content with the pretty little snowfall we got on December 8 and grit our teeth through a few wintry cold spots until we can welcome springtime again. A disappointment for some, hope for others.
