Ringgold's newest grocery store, Grocery Outlet, opened its doors to the public Thursday morning, Sept. 28, a few days ahead of its grand opening slated for Oct. 4.

The store, which exists in the old Shop-Rite building on Legion Street, offers a little bit of everything.

District Manager Eric Habel and Store Manager Scott Brenwald were excited about the store's flow of customers on the first day.

"It's been good so far," Brenwald said Thursday. "We opened up at 10:30 this morning and people came right in."

The store's opening comes after the corporation leased the building and then spent the summer revamping the store.

"We came in here right at the end of July and started working on the store," Habel said. "We really thought we'd be open a little sooner, but we weren't quite ready. We wanted to make sure we did it right. It's still been pretty quick."

Although the soft opening was a hit on Thursday, store officials say they're gearing up for the celebratory grand opening on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Festivities will kickoff at 8 a.m.

"With the grand opening ... it'll be the big event," Habel said. "We wanted to let everybody in a little early, but at the grand opening we'll actually do the ribbon-cutting, have goody bags, and things like that. I'm just looking around at all these buggies, and they're filling them right up."

The store's hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
