Parenting classes

Parents won’t find a better deal than this. The Catoosa County Family Collaborative is offering a free seven-week parenting class taught by licensed professional counselor Jennifer Holdaway.

Not only is the class free, but attendees will be served a free dinner and free childcare is available for ages birth through nine years old. And as if that isn’t enough, every parent who completes the course will receive a $30 Walmart gift card. If mom and dad both attend all sessions, each of them will receive a gift card.

Classes will be held at the Catoosa Learning Center in Ringgold on Thursdays, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., beginning March 1 and running through April 12.

Classes will cover such topics as managing behavior, discipline, praise and criticism, and drug and alcohol abuse.

"Some parents will take the course a second time as a refresher," says William Mathew, who works with the Collaborative and is helping to promote the classes.

The registration deadline is Feb. 28. For more information or to register, call 706-935-5018 or email or (Phil Ledbetter). The Catoosa Learning Center is located at 38 Muscogee Trail in Ringgold, at Benton Place.
