It's an election year and the time is just ahead to qualify if you want to run for office.

There are six local positions up for grabs in 2018 — two seats on the Catoosa County Board of Commissioners (Districts 2 and 4), two seats on the Catoosa County Board of Education (Districts 2 and 4), and the positions of State Court judge and solicitor general.

The people who currently hold these positions are:

County Commissioner, District 2 – Bobby Winters

County Commissioner, District 4 – Ray Johnson

Board of Education, District 2 – Jack Sims

Board of Education, District 4 – David Moeller

County Solicitor General – Doug Woodruff

State Court Judge – Ron Goulart

The window for signing up to run is Monday, March 5, through noon on Friday, March 9. Potential candidates can visit catoosa.com/elections to find a 2018 qualifying packet and to find more information.

The primary election will take place Tuesday, May 22. If a run-off election is necessary, it will take place on Tuesday, July 24. The final election is on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
