About 40 feet of copper piping was stolen from a church along Ga. Highway 151 (Alabama Highway) sometime during a two-day period earlier this week, police say.

According to the Catoosa County Sheriff's Department, deputies were called to Woodstation United Methodist Church Wednesday morning, Nov. 8, after a church official reported that vandalism and theft had occurred overnight.

"He stated that approximately 40 feet of half-inch copper pipe had been broken off the propane tank in the back of the building, pulled out of the ground, and stolen," deputy Adam Hare said.

The church employee said the piping was intact the previous afternoon, and claimed the incident had to have taken place between 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon and 11:05 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Anyone with information about the theft is encouraged to contact the Catoosa County Sheriff's Department at 706-935-2424.
