The Catoosa County Chamber of Commerce hosted "Celebrate Catoosa – New Orleans Style" on March 11 at the Colonnade Civic Center. The event celebrated the Chamber and honored the achievements of Yvonne Morgan and Dr. Joe Haskins.

Yvonne Morgan was named the 2016 Catoosa County Citizen of the Year. Mrs. Morgan’s many achievements include having been a successful small business owner and working for several non-profits over the years such as Habitat for Humanity, Stocking Full of Love and many others. Ms. Morgan is president of the Catoosa County Citizens and Veterans Memorial as well as responsible for State of Georgia Road Dedications in the community. She is active in the Daughters of the American Revolution. Ms. Morgan says, "I am humbled by this award and certainly could not have done all I have without the help of my many friends and fellow citizens".

Dr. Joe Haskins was named to the Catoosa County Chamber of Commerce Business Hall of Fame. Dr. Haskins was the second named after the late Leonard Fant in 2015. Dr. Haskins is chairman and CEO of Capital Bank and was nominated by several of his employees, indicating the respect and integrity shown him. Dr. Haskins has been involved with Friends of the Park, Top of Georgia, and Leadership Catoosa and in 2014 was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the Fort Oglethorpe Kiwanis Club.

In accepting the award, Dr. Haskins referred to his dad, the late Drew Haskins Jr., who started Fort Oglethorpe State Bank in 1964 and it was later changed to Capital Bank. Capital Bank has remained and is now the only locally owned bank in the community. Under Dr. Haskins leadership, Capital Bank has twice been recognized as the Independent Community Bankers’ Association Community Bank of the Year. He is not only involved in his community but encourages his employees to do likewise, even giving them time off from work for community activities. He is active with the schools, providing 33 children in the elementary schools with Christmas in 2016. He has donated over $275,00 to local schools since 2010.

Catoosa County Chamber of Commerce is proud to have Dr. Joe Haskins and Capital Bank among its supporters.
