Ringgold’s Babb Lumber opens mill outlet store
Babb Lumber Company has opened a mill outlet store at its Ringgold plant for sales of pressure-treated and untreated pine lumber to homeowners, farmers, and contractors.
Babb Lumber invites the public to visit the new outlet store and enjoy refreshments on Friday, May 9, from noon to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, May 10, from 8 a.m. to noon. State Sen. Jeff Mullis of Chickamauga will be on hand Saturday at 10 a.m. to speak.
Babb Lumber has been “wholesale only” in recent years, but has reopened to public sales in response to local demand for quality treated lumber products produced in compliance with the AWPA standards for heavy-duty applications and long service life.
Not all treated wood products available at building supply dealers meet AWPA standards. Some are “light weight” products not produced in compliance with AWPA standards. Look for the AWPA logo on the end tags when buying pressure-treated wood. While it costs a bit more to produce in compliance with AWPA standards and the heavier treatment results in heavier pieces of treated wood, the additional cost is small compared to the lifetime benefits.
The Babb Lumber mill outlet store offers a full range of pressure-treated wood products. The outlet store also offers untreated pine lumber for framing applications and untreated rough sawn lumber for farm applications.
