The Maryland Fried Chicken restaurant in LaFayette has re-opened under new ownership.
New local franchise owners Robert and Judy Ellenburg are no strangers to the local business community. They have owned and operated the LaFayette Fruit Market for the past 20-years.
The couple purchased LaFayette Maryland Fried Chicken in mid-October and reopened the restaurant, which closed earlier this year, on Nov. 24.
“It was bad to see it close and we saw an opportunity to open it back up,” Judy Ellenburg said.
The Ellenburgs were customers prior to the business closing and noticed the amount of volume at the establishment while working at the LaFayette Fruit Market.
Judy said so many customers were seen driving through the restaurant and they hated to see it close.
Maryland Fried Chicken in LaFayette employees seven local people and continues to accept applications.
The menu is the same as before and the prices have been lowered from previous ownership.
Dine-in, carry-out and drive-thru are available. The restaurant has five tabletops with four chairs each.
Hours of operation are Mondays through Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
A breakfast takeout is coming soon, Judy said.
Maryland Fried Chicken is located at 1391 N. Main St. in LaFayette and the number is 706-638-0607.
