Catoosa County detectives are investigating a residential burglary that took place on Keith Road the day after Christmas, in which approximately $4,000 worth of property was stolen.

According to the Catoosa County Sheriff's Department, the theft occurred on the afternoon of Dec. 26 during a brief, two-hour time span when the resident was away from the home.

Lt. Jake Hollis was dispatched to the 5000 block of Keith Road where someone forced their way into the home.

"The victim stated he had left the residence around 4:30 p.m., and returned at approximately 6:15 p.m. to find his rear door screen damaged and the door and window open," Lt. Hollis said.

The screen door displayed visible pry marks, as did the doorjamb, reports show.

Two TVs, miscellaneous articles of jewelry, several tools, and a personal check from the victim's checkbook were taken during the incident.
