Calhoun Middle sixth-grader Dylan Faulkner recently competed at the AAU Jr. Olympic Games at Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Va. and came away with some memorable finishes, including setting a new national record.

Faulkner competed in four events, including the high jump where he cleared 5-01.50 to set a new national record for his 11-year-old age group before breaking that record later in the competition by clearing 5-02.25.

Faulkner finished fourth in the pentathlon with 1,874 total points and fourth in the shot put with a throw of 35-07.75, a new personal best. He also competed in the 80 meter hurdles but didn’t make it to the finals in that event.
