The Calhoun cheerleading squad had a stellar week recently in Athens at a Universal Cheerleading Camp.

The team placed first in the Home Pom, second in the Camp cheer, second in extreme dance, first in the overall varsity division and were also voted on by the other teams to win the Leadership Award.

Blair Spector won the jump contest for the entire camp, and Spector, Maria Rigney, Carson Glaze and Tania Linares were named UCA All-American cheerleaders at the camp.

Coach Ginger Reeves said she, as well as coach Jaime Garrett, were very proud of all the girls' hard work. "These girls have so much heart and love to cheer for Calhoun Football and Basketball," said Reeves. "Our goal for this camp was to bring the leaders of the football and basketball spirit teams together and help them understand their job as cheer-LEADERS.  We believe camp has set the stage for an amazing year. We can't wait for our season to begin."
