Four Calhoun High cheerleaders will enter next season with a bit of a boost in confidence.
Maria Rigney, Tania Linares, Blair Spector and Carson Glaze were named All-American Cheerleaders last week after performing at Universal Cheerleading Camp at the University of Georgia.
All-American is a program to recognize individuals at Universal Cheerleading Camps (UCA). The participants have to complete a jump, camp cheer and camp dance. They are judged by the UCA instructors from a specific rubric. The chosen sophomores, juniors, and seniors are given the opportunity to participate in the New Year's Day parade in London, England.
Rigney is entering her senior year at Calhoun, and Linares, Spector and Glaze will all be juniors this fall.
The Calhoun competition squad, coached by Ginger Reeves, is looking to follow up a stellar 2012 season in which they won their second straight region title and finished as the state runner-up in Class AA.
