-The Ashworth varsity boys team put forth one of its best efforts of the season en route to a commanding 71-51 road victory over the Armuchee Indians last Monday, Dec. 5.
Armando Sanchez continues to be an imposing force in the post for the Warriors, netting 35 points and snagging eight rebounds. Also lighting up the scoreboard for Ashworth was Brison McGinnis, who tossed in 15 points, Walker Angland, who contributed 14 points and Scott James, who added four points and 10 rebounds.
-The win versus the Indians comes on the heels of a 45-20 victory the Warriors picked up against the Model Blue Devils on Thursday, Nov. 30.
-Despite a solid complete-team performance, the Ashworth Lady Warriors varsity squad fell to Armuchee 42-38 in a competitive game last Monday. Kim Passley scored a team-high 16 points, while Brooke Wilson pitched in 13 points by knocking down three 3-pointers. Additionally, Kaylan Tinsley scored four points, Rachel Raley added two points, and Amber Pickens tossed in two points.
-The Lady Warriors did pick up a dominant 41-9 win over Model in its previous contest. Pickens led the way in that one, scoring 10 points. Wilson and Tinsley added eight points.
-The Red Bud Lady Phoenix varsity team snatched a 47-46 victory from the Cass Colonels last Thursday.
Madison Abernathy enjoyed a big night for Red Bud, racking up 17 points. Also contributing for the Lady Phoenix was Kierra McAfee with nine points, and Olyvia Hopper with two. The Lady Phoenix officially move to 3-2 on the season with the victory.
-The Red Bud varsity boys team dropped its game against Cass 44-31.
Christian Roberts led the way for the Phoenix with nine points. Brant Bryant chipped in six points. Red Bud moves to 2-3 on the season after the loss.
-The Ashworth Warrior wrestling squad capped off the month of November by topping Pepperell by a margin of 63-47 and took out defending region champion Armuchee with a score of 59-33.
-The Warriors followed that effort up by finishing 2-3 at the Junior Tiger Duals Tournament at Adairsville Middle School. Ashworth picked up wins against Armuchee and South Central, while also losing narrowly to Cass, Cartersville and Adairsville.
Individual results included Anthony Temple finishing 4-0, Justin Correll finishing 3-0, Paul Guerrero finishing 2-0, Jose Lara finishing 3-2, Jeffrey House finishing 2-2, Brock Shellhouse finishing 2-1, Wesley Phipps finishing 2-1 and Tyson Temple finishing 2-2. Also picking up wins were Kadin Cloud, Hunter Childers, Addison Baker and Jose Cardoza.
