Wrestling

-The Red Bud Firebirds started the season off with a pair of wins on Friday, Nov. 10 by defeating the Adairsville Tigers 66-30 and dominating the Cartersville Hurricanes 82-15.

Misha Arbos, Nic Haberman, Jacob White, Blake Dendy, Druu Faulk, Colt Weaver, Rowan Burdick, Lake Prater, Jeremiah Payne, Zach McAfee, Jebb Knight, Draven Peppers, Jaxx Knight and TJ Oliver all collected individual wins in the season-opening victories.

-The Firebirds followed that performance by moving to 4-0 with a commanding 61-34 win over the Cass Colonels and a tightly-contested 52-48 victory against the South Central Chieftains on Tuesday.

TJ Oliver, Jaxx Knight, Nic Haberman, Jebb Knight, Rowan Burdick, Misha Arbos, Blake Dendy, Colt Weaver, Cole Hunt, Lake Prather, Jeremiah Payne, Zach McAfee and Draven Peppers all contributed individual wins.

-The Ashworth Warrior wrestling squad was also successful in its opening slate of matches in Cedartown last Saturday. Even though the Warriors fell 69-51 against Rockmart and 69-42 versus Model, the team picked up a decisive 90-28 victory over Bowdon, a close 56-54 win over Cedartown and edged out Pepperell 52-49.

Basketball

-After collecting a victory against the Ashworth Warriors to kick off the season last week, the Red Bud varsity girls basketball team kept the momentum rolling by defeating the South Central Lady Chieftains in sound fashion 58-6 on Monday.

The scoring effort for the Lady Phoenix was led by Dayleigh Dress, who chipped in 10 points. Madison Abernathy, Taylor Dotson, Olyvia Hopper and KK Lyles each tallied eight points on the evening.

-The Red Bud varsity boys basketball team also walked away from the matchup against South Central with a dominant victory, thwarting the Chieftains 52-8 on the road. Brant Bryant spearheaded the offense for the Phoenix by scoring 17 points. Christian Roberts added 12 points.
