-The Red Bud varsity girls gutted out a hard-fought 38-33 victory against Pickens County on Monday. Olyvia Hopper paced the Lady Phoenix with 12 points, with Madison Abernathy chipping in 10 points. The win pushed the team’s record to 4-2 as it continues to climb the BGMSAA standings.

-Red Bud’s varsity boys team collected a decisive 42-25 win over Pickens County on Monday. Tyler Johns led the way for the Phoenix with 11 points, and Christian Roberts added nine. The junior varsity boys also tacked on a 37-30 victory, which included a 13-point performance from Zevyn Ferguson and a 12-point performance from Brant Bryant.

The second half of region play for all of Red Bud’s teams resumes on Saturday, Jan. 6 with contests against Cartersville.

-The Ashworth girls varsity team also snatched a 37-30 victory over Cedartown on Monday afternoon. Kim Passley turned in another impactful performance for the Lady Warriors, netting 14 points.

Brooke Wilson tossed in eight points, including a crucial three-pointer in crunch time for Ashworth. Rounding out the scoring for the team was Amber Pickens with six points, Savannah Clark with four points, Rachel Raley with three points and Kaylan Tinsley with two points.
