Several local teams from the Sequoyah Tennis Association traveled to Augusta last weekend to compete in the USTA Georgia Tri-Level State Championship, and many came back with impressive finishes.

A total of eight teams from the STA made the trip with four winning state championships and one earning a state runner-up finish. Earning state championships were Terina Fowler’s 18 & over Ladies 2.5/3.0/3.5 team, Jennifer Rose’s 18 & over Ladies 3.0/3.5/4.0 team, the Men’s 18 & over 3.0/3.5/4.0 team and the Men’s 40 & over 3.5/4.0/4.5 team. The Ladies 18 & over 3.5/4.0/4.5 team was a state runner-up.

Pictured second is Rose’s team which included: captain Jennifer Rose, Sabrina Wilson, Suni Carroll, Stephanie Rittenhouse, Lawanna Wilson, Lisa Frazier, Renee Brown, Terina Fowler, Megan McAbee, Nicole Brown and Bonnie Burden. Not pictured was Connie Sams.

Pictured third is the Men’s 18 & over 3.0/3.5/4.0 team which included: Jackson Smith, Scott Higgins, Jason LeBoeuf, Houston Medlock, Mike Landry, Ashwin Venkatesu, Steve Sheppard, Jeff Wright and captain Chris Smith. Not pictured was Tristan LeBoeuf and Cameron LeBoeuf.

Pictured fourth is the Men’s 40 & over 3.5/4.0/4.5 team which included: Brian Proffitt, Jeff Willingham, Jacin Bagwell, David Smith, John Woody and James Fuller. Not pictured was Raymond Chang, captain Lee Charles, Chris King, Ricky Ford and Scott Carroll.

Pictured fifth is the Ladies 18 & over 3.5/4.0/4.5 team which included: Joanna Fincher, Becky Quast, Danielle King, Tina Jones, Suni Carroll, Becky Johns, Janey Remillard and Calandra Jones. Not pictured Delilah Baxter and Alison Millar McMillan.
