The seven-year old co-ed soccer team representing the Calhoun Recreation Department earned a state championship trophy last weekend by finishing first after two wins in Thomasville.

They won their first game 4-1 with goals by Abraham Sanchez, Gerardo Valenzuela and Yair Perez, and then won the second game 5-0 with goals by Victor Muñoz, Jorge Alvarez and Valenzuela. Goalkeeper Daniel Pena was also key in the state-title run as he allowed just one goal in the region and state tournament combined.

Members of the team are: Jorge Alvarez , Daniel Bautista, Even Cedeno, Jafet Flores, Victor Muñoz, Santiago Ochoa, Daniel Peña, Yair Perez, Sawyer Robinson, Abraham Sanchez, Gerardo Valenzuela and Diego Villalobos.

The team is coached by: Sergio Sanchez, Matt Rice and Steven Robinson
