The Gordon Central girls and boys basketball program held their annual preseason youth basketball clinic this past weekend, and it was a big success according to Gordon Central girls head coach Erick Hopper.
Youngsters in grades 1-8 were invited to the clinic, and they ended up having about 35 participate. The clinic started on Saturday and went from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. and then wrapped up on Sunday with a 1:30-4:30 p.m. session. Players and coaches from both the Gordon Central High girls and boys teams served as instructors, and the campers learned and improved on fundamental skills of dribbling, shooting, passing and defense while also having some fun. Each participant also received a clinic t-shirt and will get free admission to a Gordon Central home basketball game.
“This is our third year doing the clinic in the Fall, and it went well,” said Hopper. “It seemed like everyone had a good time.”
