Gordon Central held their first-ever alumni basketball tournament on Saturday with four women’s teams and five men’s teams competing in double-elimination tournaments.

Each team had to be made up of 75 percent Gordon Central High alumni, and several participants made long trips to come back to compete in the tournament and catch up with old friends. The winner of the men’s division was the Fast Five, and the girls division winner was the Lady Warriors. Gordon

Central girls basketball coach Erick Hopper said the tournament was a success and he hopes it will continue for years to come. “It was nice to see a lot of people I have come to know or coach in the community back in one gym,” said Hopper. “I think everyone had a great time and used it as a basketball ‘reunion’ so to speak. We look forward to hopefully doing this every year.”

All proceeds from the tournament will go to the Gordon Central High girls basketball program.
