Sonoraville High 10th grader Jacob Cornette recently played in the Dizzy Dean World Series and helped the Trion Bulldogs capture the 16U championship.

Cornette went 5-for-12 at the plate at the World Series in South Haven, Miss. and also pitched four scoreless innings on the mound for the Bulldogs. The team defeated the Carbon Hill (Ala.) Diamondbacks in the championship game. Cornette and the Bulldogs earned the title one year after finishing third at the World Series in 2016
