Megen Cochran, age 17, signed a full four-year tennis scholarship with University of South Carolina this past November.
Cochran is a resident of Calhoun and attended Calhoun City Schools until her sixth grade year. She was involved in a variety of different sports (basketball, softball, soccer, track, cross country and tennis), but she started homeschooling to train and travel for her true love, tennis.
Her junior coach is Stephen Diaz from Stephen Diaz Tennis Academy in Marietta. Cochran is a five-star tennis recuit. She won a Bronze ball at the Easter Bowl at Palms Springs, Calif. in April of 2012 and won a Bronze ball at Clay Court Nationals at Virginia Beach in July 2012. During Megen's junior tennis career, she has been ranked as high as No. 20 in the nation, No. 2 in the Southerns and No. 500 in the International Tennis Federation.
