Three former local golf standouts were playing close to home this past week for their college teams as they competed in the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational at Stonebridge Golf Club in Rome.

Former Gordon Central standout Branton Bailey and former Sonoraville standout Lane Strickland helped Georgia Northwestern to an eighth-place finish as a team with their efforts. Bailey shot a three-day 220 (76-75-69) for the low score for the Bobcats, and Strickland was close behind with a 222 (77-74-71).

Former Sonoraville standout Gunter Jordan helped Shorter University to an 11th-place finish with his three day 231 (79-77-75).
