After a 314 in harsh weather at Dogwood Hills Golf Course in Flatrock, Ala. last Sunday, the Georgia Northwestern Bobcats enjoyed much better weather in the second round of a 36-hole, two-day match against Northeast Alabama Community College on Monday.
Playing at Goose Pond Colony in Scottsboro, the Bobcats shot 11 strokes higher with a 325, but they were still able to finish with a 36-hole score of 639 and a 14-shot victory.
David Manis, who carded an 82 on Sunday, had the Bobcats’ lowest score of the day on Monday with a 78, giving him a two-day total of 160. He matched former Sonoraville High standout Lane Strickland (79-81) with a 160. Former Gordon Central High standout Branton Bailey (75-83) had a team-best 158, while Cole Roberts (87-82) finished at 169.
Adrian Clark, who shot a 78 on Sunday, was not able to play on Monday due to a prior family commitment.
Marion Military College began the round on Sunday, but later withdrew from the event due to weather.
Georgia Northwestern will play one final fall tournament when they travel back to Alabama to play in the Central Alabama Community College Trojan Invitational. The event will be held Nov. 12-14 at the Wynlakes Golf Club near Montgomery.
