Several former local football standouts have gone on to the next level to play college football and many are making an impact for their teams this season.
More than 30 players that graduated from either Calhoun, Gordon Central or Sonoraville can be found on college football rosters throughout the nation, and several of those saw action in their team’s most recent game.
Here’s a roundup of the former local players who appeared in the box score and how they did last week:
KAELAN RILEY, Mercer, Calhoun
Riley threw for 146 yards and a touchdown on 20-of-32 passes in the Bears’ 24-10 loss at Auburn last Saturday. The redshirt-freshman starting quarterback also ran for 16 yards on four attempts.
TAYLOR LAMB, Appalachian State, Calhoun
Lamb threw for 167 yards on 17-of-28 passes with one touchdown in the Mountaineers’ 20-13 comeback win at Texas State last Saturday in their Sun Belt Conference opener. The redshirt-senior starting quarterback also ran for 42 yards on five carries.
THOMAS LESTER, West Georgia, Calhoun
Lester had one catch for 20 yards in the Wolves’ 17-7 loss at Delta State last Saturday. The junior receiver also played on special teams and recorded a solo tackle.
CHANDLER CURTIS, Mercer, Calhoun
Curtis, a senior wide receiver, caught two passes for six yards in Mercers’ 24-10 loss at Auburn last Saturday.
SEBASTIAN WILLER, Georgia State, Calhoun
Willer, a redshirt-senior, started at right tackle in the Panthers’ 56-0 loss at Penn State last Saturday.
NOAH DAVENPORT, Limestone College, Calhoun
Davenport, a freshman, started at left guard in the Saints’ 30-23 overtime win at home over Tusculum last Saturday.
DREW McENTYRE, The Citadel, Calhoun
McEntyre, a sophomore, started at right tackle in the Bulldogs’ 31-25 victory at East Tennessee State last Saturday.
TRISTAN FULLER, Sewanee, Calhoun
Fuller had one solo tackle and seven assists for a total of eight in the Tigers’ 29-17 win at Austin College last Saturday. The junior defensive lineman had a half a sack and a tackle-for-loss among his stops.
AUSTIN STOUT, Monroe College, Calhoun
Stout, a freshman, started at right guard in the Mustangs’ 45-3 victory at Wagner College JV last Sunday.
DJ PRATHER, Chattanooga, Gordon Central
Prather, a senior defensive lineman, had one quarterback hit in the Mocs’ 21-7 home loss to UT-Martin last Saturday.
MARCUS (MJ) REYNOLDS, Lane College, Gordon Central
Reynolds, a junior quarterback, ran for 71 yards on eight carries with a long of 29 in the Dragons’ 30-21 loss at Benedict College last Saturday.
TRENT FRIX, Georgia, Calhoun
Frix, a senior, handled long-snapping duties for the Bulldogs in their 42-14 home win over Samford in Athens last Saturday.
DREW McCRACKEN, Kennesaw State, Calhoun
McCracken, a junior, handled long-snapping duties for the Owls in their 20-14 win at Alabama State last Saturday.
AUSTIN BYRD, Kennesaw State, Calhoun
Byrd, a redshirt-junior tight end, participated but didn’t record any stats in the Owls’ 20-14 win at Alabama State last Saturday.
LANDON RICE, Mississippi Gulf Coast, Calhoun
Rice, a freshman tight end, participated but didn’t record any stats in the Bulldogs’ 21-14 win at Copiah-Lincoln Community College last Thursday.
