On Dec. 7, The Calhoun boys and girls swim teams traveled to Rome High to take on Rome and River Ridge. The Calhoun Boys scored 147 points to take first over Rome’s 113 and River Ridge’s 67. The Calhoun girls took third with 90 points behind Rome’s 120 and River Ridge’s 112.
First-place finishes for the boys were 200-yd medley relay team of Monforte, Hutzler, Carroll and Bushong, 200-yd free Mitchum, 200-yd individual medley Carroll, 100-yd butterfly Carroll, 500-yd free Mitchum, 100-yd backstroke Monforte and 400-yd freestyle relay team of Carroll, Bushong, Kerns and Bates.
First-place finishes for the girls were 200-yd individual medley Workman, 100-yd butterfly Workman and 500-yd free Funes.
The Calhoun Aquatic Center saw some fast swimming on Tuesday, Dec.17 as the Calhoun boys and girls Swim and Dive Teams hosted Dalton and Creekview.
The Calhoun girls dominated in the pool with 129 points over Creekview’s 110 and Dalton’s 79. Among the first-place finishes were 200-yd medley relay team of Duke, Reid, Workman and Funes, 100-yd butterfly Workman, 500-yd free Duke, 200-yd freestyle relay team of Russell, Reid, Driscoll and Holsomback, 100-yd backstroke Duke, 100-yd breast stroke Reid and 400-yd freestyle relay team of Workman, Duke, Russell and Funes.
Abby Crowe scored top points for Girls Diving.
The Calhoun boys fought hard to maintain their undefeated status at home hosting Dalton for the first time ever. Dalton’s boys took the win with 146 points over Calhoun’s 121 points and Creekview’s 56.
Joshua Tollson led off with Georgia State Qualifying points for Boys Diving.
First place finishes for the Calhoun boys were 200-yd individual medley Dyar; 50-yd free Carroll, 200 -yd freestyle relay team of Dyar, Carroll, Bushong and Parker, 100-yd backstroke Dyar and 100-yd breast stroke Parker.
Calhoun has a few weeks off for the holidays before hosting Southeast Whitfield, Cass and Heritage-Catoosa on Jan. 4 at the Calhoun Aquatic Center.
