Gordon Central and Model put on an offensive display on Wednesday, and the Lady Warriors were the last team standing thanks to a game-winning double by Morgan Frank.
Gordon Central defeated the Lady Devils 12-11 as Frank came through with a clutch hit in the final frame. The Lady Warriors (2-8, 2-4) led 10-4 going to the sixth inning before Model scored six runs to tie it up. The teams scored a run apiece in the bottom of the sixth and top of the seventh before Gordon Central’s final blow in the bottom of the seventh.
The Lady Warriors had contributions from up and down the lineup, including Frank’s two-double day. Mackenzie Hall was 4-for-4 with an RBI, Dalyn Muse had two hits and three RBIs and Montana Slaughter added two hits, three stolen bases and an RBI. Cheyenne Temple had a solo homer, and Jada Jaco and Destiny Parker each drove in a run.
Parker earned the win in relief, pitching 1 1-3 innings and giving up one run (unearned) on one hit while striking out four. Muse pitched 2-3 of an inning of relief and gave up one run on three hits.
Gordon Central is back home on Thursday to host Chattooga in another Region 7-AA matchup.

Sonoraville 4, Coahulla Creek 1
The Lady Phoenix went on the road on Wednesday and picked up a region crossover win thanks to a solid combined pitching performance and timely hitting.
Alyssa Hughes earned the win for Sonoraville (9-7) as she pitched 4 1-3 innings and gave up one run on six hits while striking out three. Kristen Davis pitched the final 3 2-3 innings to earn the save as she didn’t give up a single hit while striking out four.
Harleigh Chastain led the offense with three hits and two runs scored. Griffin Holden added two hits, Davis had a double and an RBI, Hughes had a double and Payton Townsend drove in a run.
Sonoraville is back at home on Thursday to play Haralson County in a subregion contest.
Two Calhoun games washed out
The Calhoun Lady Jackets were scheduled to play two games this week but both were postponed due to inclement weather.
The Lady Jackets’ matchup at Adairsville, which was originally scheduled to be played on Tuesday, will now be played on Wednesday (Sept. 13) at 5:30 p.m. They also had to move Wednesday’s home game against Bremen to Thursday (Sept. 14) at 5:30 p.m. and reschedule the Sonoraville game to Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. at home.
Calhoun (11-3) will next play on Monday at Northwest Whitfield at 5 p.m.
