While many high school golfers are taking some time off during the offseason, Calhoun High senior Katie Kauffman is staying busy and trying to improve her game while having some success at the same time.
Kauffman recently competed at the Rudolf Classic at the Chattahoochee Golf Club and finished first in the Girls 14-18 division with a two-day 169 (85-84). Kauffman (center) is pictured with her first-place plaque along with second-place Alivia Davis (170) and Caroline Martin (175).
Kauffman has been a part of three straight state championships for the Calhoun girls golf program led by head coach Clay Stephenson and will return this season with her sights set on a fourth straight to close out her high school career. She and sophomore Molly Mashburn are the two returning players from last year’s state championship squad as the team lost Kate Mashburn and Maddie Crump to graduation.
