The Gordon Central Warriors will be aiming for a positive end to the 2017 season on Friday when they visit Coosa for a Region 7-AA contest to close out the schedule and head into the offseason.

The Warriors (2-7, 2-4 7-AA) are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, but that won’t stop them from being motivated to play spoiler by knocking the Eagles (6-3, 4-2) down to the No. 4 seed with a loss and end GC’s first year under head coach Cory Nix with a bang.

Gordon Central is coming off a 41-0 loss at home to Rockmart last Friday, but the score wasn’t indicative of how much the team fought to stay in it for much of the first half. Gauge Giddens led the charge for the Warriors with a big night on the ground, running for 118 yards on 15 carries.

Coosa defeated Model last Friday 46-14, and the Eagles are looking to put a stamp on the regular season with a home victory as they head into the playoffs for the first time since 2014. The Eagles can earn the No. 3 seed in 7-AA with a win or a Pepperell win on Friday night, but they could slip to the No. 4 seed with a loss and a Chattooga win.

Gordon Central leads the all-time series 3-2, but Coosa has won the last two, including a 52-0 victory at Ratner Stadium last season.
