It is a Calhoun tradition that football players who excel on Friday nights are awarded stars for their helmets by the Calhoun coaching staff.

Recently, Calhoun Head Football Coach Hal Lamb extended the recognition to academic performance. A total of 35 players (pictured standing) all received A’s and B’s on their progress report and were awarded three stars to add to their helmets.

Seven players (kneeling) received all A’s on their progress report and were awarded five stars. Those receiving five stars included: James Prater, Ben King, Maison Ray, David Braden, Josh Barnes, Owen Goble and Clayton Long.

The Jackets are currently 2-1 and faced Coahulla Creek on Friday. They will be at home this coming Friday to host North Murray at 7:30 p.m.
