The Phoenix led 54-50 after three quarters but finished the game with a surge, outscoring the visitors 24-10 in the fourth to close out their second home win in two nights.
Wil Walraven had his second straight big night offensively for the Phoenix (2-0) as he scored a game-high 28, including eight in the fourth. Trent Daniel scored 15 with nine in the fourth quarter, and Garrett Overboe was the third Sonoraville player in double figures with 13.
Sonoraville took a 21-15 lead after the first quarter and then pushed their lead to 40-30 at the half. Cherokee County battled back in the third to pull within four going into the fourth quarter.
Ivory Moore scored 20 to lead Cherokee County, and Will Hawkins and Connor Elrod each added 10.
The Phoenix are on the road next Tuesday for a non-region contest at Armuchee at 7:30 p.m.
