Cherokee County (Ala.) girls 64, Sonoraville 61

The Lady Phoenix led 46-39 after three quarters in their season opener, but Cherokee County closed the game out with a 25-15 advantage in the fourth to rally for a victory over Sonoraville.

Maliyah Parks led Sonoraville (0-1) in scoring with 16 points, and Alexa Geary scored 15 in her debut as a freshman. Abby Chambers added seven, and Lindsay Bowman and Harleigh Chastain each contributed six.

Cherokee County took advantage of getting to the free throw line more than Sonoraville and made 18-of-25 from the stripe. Sonoraville was just 5-of-8.

Sonoraville is back at Armuchee on Tuesday night to face Cartersville at 5:30 p.m.
