Calhoun boys 69, Haralson County 44
The Jackets led by five at the half but put together a dominant final two quarters to pull away and earn a convincing subregion road win on Saturday.
Calhoun (7-12, 2-3 subregion) rallied from a 14-12 deficit after the first quarter to lead 33-28 at the half. They pushed their advantage to 52-38 at the end of the third and then dominated the fourth quarter to the tune of 17-6 to completely put the game away.
Davis Allen had a big night on the scoresheet to lead the way with 23 points. Tononcito Martha added 10, and Gage Maffetone and Xaxton Goodson each scored seven.
Calhoun is back at home on Tuesday to host Bremen at 6:30 p.m.
Haralson County girls 57, Calhoun 48
Calhoun battled back from a 27-point deficit to cut Haralson County’s lead to six in the fourth quarter but couldn’t quite get over the hump in a subregion road loss on Saturday.
The Lady Jackets (10-9, 3-2 subregion) fell behind 27-4 after the first quarter, but outscored Haralson County in each quarter after that. It wasn’t enough, however, as Haralson County made enough plays down the stretch to hold on.
Anna George led Calhoun with 20 points to go with seven rebounds, and Erin Davis added eight points and 10 rebounds. Erin Kelly also contributed eight points.
Calhoun is home on Tuesday to host Bremen at 5 p.m.
