Calhoun High senior Bailey Lester (seated, second from right) signed a football scholarship with the University of West Georgia (Carrollton, Ga.) on Wednesday.
Lester said of the signing: “This means a lot to me. Ever since my brother (Thomas) signed a few years ago, it really pushed me to want to do the same thing. It’s been a dream of mine since I was a kid to play college football, and to get the chance to go play on the same team with my brother again is really cool. That was one of the big factors in picking West Georgia. I’m excited to play with him again. West Georgia was one of the main schools recruiting me the whole time, and they always said they thought a lot of me as a player. I love the coaches there. They are down to earth, and I think they will be great to play for. I’m a little nervous about starting college and college football. The competition is going to be tough, but I’m still working out hard. My goal is to go make an impact there as soon as possible.”
Also attending the signing were: (front row, left) sister Mattie Lester, mother Tracy Lester, father Ronnie Lester, (back row, from left) Calhoun High head coach and athletic director Hal Lamb, assistant coach Tommie Hoblitzell and assistant coach George Hoblitzell.
