Owen Security Solutions accepting scholarship applications

Justin Owen, president of Owen Security Solutions, presented 2015 Gordon Central High School graduate David Elexander Sandford with the first Future Heroes Scholarship in June 2015.

Owen Security Solutions has announced that applications for its second annual Future Heroes Scholarship Program are now being accepted. The $500 scholarship, created for the children of first responders, will be awarded to a student in the North Georgia area who has demonstrated scholastic achievement, civic engagement and leadership in his or her community. The deadline for submitting applications is March 25, 2016.

Owen Security Solutions, a locally owned and operated commercial and residential security company, established the Future Heroes Scholarship program with the goal of providing college assistance to the children of the individuals that protect and defend the communities of North Georgia. The scholarship program is open to children of any first responder, including paramedic, EMT, police officer or firefighter, that is a high school senior in North Georgia.

“Every community in North Georgia witnesses the bravery of police officers, firefighters and other first responders,” said Owen Security Solutions President, Justin Owen. “They work every day to keep us safe. This scholarship is another way we can recognize their daily selfless actions by helping their children achieve a more secure future through advanced education.”

The Electronic Security Association, a non-profit trade association, sponsors the security industry scholarship program. Owen Security endorses awards given to the children of first responders by the ESA through its national Youth Scholarship Program, which, in 2016, will award an $8500 scholarship to the selected first-place winner and $3500 to the selected second place winner. The Georgia Chapter offers a $1000 scholarship to a deserving Georgia student.

Owen Security Solutions feels that recognizing and honoring local first responders is part of helping protect homeowners and businesses in the communities they serve. The business developed this scholarship as a way of thanking these men and women for their services by helping, in a small way, to secure a higher education for their children.

The first Future Heroes Scholarship was presented to David Elexander Sandford from Gordon Central High School in 2015; Sandford is the son of Capt. Grady C. Sandford, Jr. of the Georgia State Patrol.

Applicants of the Owen Security Solutions scholarship should fill out the application for the 2016 ESA Youth Scholarship Program and send a copy to the business. Details and more information can be found at www.owensecurity.com/futureheroes.
