The Oostanaula School Community Club will open the New Year with a benefit this Saturday, January 14 to benefit the building they are housed in. The old Oostanaula School is in need of serious repairs. The benefit will begin at 5 p.m.

As with all benefits at the Oostanaula School Community Club, a home cooked meal can be purchased for $6 per plate including dessert and drink. There is no admission to the event; throughout the evening, attendees can enjoy drawings for door prizes, an auction and cake walks.

Music will be provided by Jerusalem Ridge, a popular local Bluegrass group.

For more information, call Earl at 706-879-8330 or Barbara at 770-608-2050.

What do you think should happen with the Calhoun Police Station?

The current Calhoun Police Station has been found to have harmful mold, asbestos and lead paint within its walls. The City of Calhoun had many options to choose from: rehabbing the current police station to bring it up to health standards; renting a building for the police to use as a station or buying property and building a station. The City Calhoun has dwindled those choices down to: purchasing the Fred's building and property on Curtis Parkway near the Calhoun Primary / Elementary school OR building on land offered to the City of Calhoun free of charge on McDaniel Station Road, across from the future site of the GBI Regional Facility. What do you think the City should do??
