Butch Johnson

Mr. Perry “Butch” Johnson, 52, of the Pine Log community, died on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, following several months of declining health. Butch was born in Cartersville on May 27, 1965. He was preceded in death by his father, Doyle Glenn Johnson; his grandparents, Daisy and Bob Ray, and Emma and Hilan Johnson; his niece, Margurite Robinson. Butch graduated from Adairsville High School. He was a master welder, he loved farming, and he enjoyed working on old cars. Butch loved his dog, Callie. Butch worked for Shaw Industries. He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.

Butch is survived by his wife, Penny S. Johnson; his mother, Betty Johnson; his daughter, Jessie Johnson Edwards and her husband, Matthew; his son Dalton Johnson (Madison King); his sister Teresia (Joe) Robinson; his brothers, Mike (Ginger) Johnson, and Mitchell Johnson; his nieces, Michelle (Coty) Henson, Nichole Johnson, and Kelita Robinson; his nephew, Christopher Johnson; his great-niece, Kensley Henson; his father-in-law, William P. Kirby.

The Johnson family received friends on Monday, Nov. 6, 2017 after 4 p.m., and on Tuesday, Nov. 7, after 8 a.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.

The funeral service was conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017 at 2 p.m. from Oak Hill Baptist Church. Rev. James Surratt officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Rev. David Temples and Reggie Temples officiating at the graveside service. Pallbearers were Joseph Agan, Steve Baldwin, Tim Patterson, Wayne Pruitt, Ricky Sheriff, and Greg Strain; honorary pallbearers were Darrell Hyde and Buster Garland.

Charlotte Long

Ms. Charlotte Diane Mulkey Long, age 64, of Adairsville, departed this life Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Charlotte was born July 18, 1953 in Calhoun, the daughter of the late Ralph H. Mulkey and Evelyn C. Holtzclaw Mulkey. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph Mulkey, Anthony Mulkey; sister, Beverly Mulkey. Charlotte loved to spend time with her family and read her bible.

Ms. Charlotte Diane Mulkey Long is survived by her sisters, Teresa (Jimmy) Smith of Calhoun, Sharon (Bobby) Cook of Adairsville; nieces and nephews, Russell Smith, Adam Cook, Brittany Whiting, Morgan Smith, Jordon Smith, Bentlee Smith, Keeghan Cook, Ryleigh Cook and William Whiting.

Service to celebrate the life of Ms. Charlotte Diane Mulkey Long was held Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017 at 1 p.m. from Ponders Calhoun Chapel with Reverend Gary Quarles officiating. Musical selection was provided by Dale Stone and Eric Bohannon. Burial followed at Chandler Cemetery with Adam Cook, Bobby Cook, Ken Bradley, Anthony Burnett, David Hall, Eric Bohannon and Morgan Shortnacy serving as pallbearers.

The family received friends Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017 at Ponders Calhoun Chapel from 5 until 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made towards the funeral expenses.

Russ Yates

William Russell “Russ” Yates, age 86, of Adairsville, passed away Friday afternoon, Nov. 3 in the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Russ was born July 3, 1931 in Atlanta, son of the late Victor Roscoe Yates and Mary Jane Loudermilk Yates. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of the North Atlanta Baptist Church and prior to his retirement was employed with the Gordon County School System. Russ was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His favorite scripture was John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Allene Yates; his son, Steven Russell Yates; and a brother, Vernon Roscoe Yates.

Survivors include his son, William Robert Yates and his wife, Rita of Summerville; one daughter, Donna Gale Yates of Blue Ridge; one sister, Muriel Taylor of Powder Springs. Three grandchildren, Dixie Benson, Russell M. Yates and Kristen Yates; seven great-grandchildren as well as a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Graveside services were conducted Sunday, Nov. 5 at 2:30 p.m. from the Mt. Harmony Cemetery in Mableton, with Rev. Charles “Chuck” Romain officiating. Pallbearers serving included Russell “Rusty” Yates, Kent Benson, Ron Yates, Vincent Yates, Andrew Cole and Britt Cole.

The family received friends Saturday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ronald McIntyre

Mr. Ronald Clyde McIntyre, age 78, of Resaca, went home to be with the Lord after a courageous battle against Parkinsons on Friday, Nov. 3, 2017 at Gordon Health Care. Ronald was born Aug. 16, 1939 in Walton, N.Y., the son of the late Ronald McIntyre and Dorothy Boyer McIntyre. Ronald was also preceded in death by the mother of his children, Patricia Bowman; son, Daniel McIntyre; daughter, Deborah McIntyre; brother, Gary McIntyre; sisters, Alice Holtzlander and Linda Green.

Ronald attended and graduated from Mt. Upton Central School in 1957. Ronald entered the United States Army in 1959 and upon completion of his service to his country, Ronald attended Bluefield College and Tennessee Temple. After completing his education, Ronald ministered at several churches, serving 20 years at Grace Assembly Church. Ronald also taught at Tabernacle Bible Institute in Virginia Beach, Virginia and founded the Dalton Christian School from 1978-1982. For a time, Ronald worked at Southern Binders in Dalton and then founded Flo-Rite and retired after 30 years.

Mr. Ronald Clyde McIntyre is survived by his wife, Shirley McIntyre; son David (Christie) McIntyre; daughters, Penney Bates, Georgia (Jim) Silvernail; brothers, Robert (Jackie) McIntyre, Russell (Andrea) McIntrye; sisters, Patty (Andy) Meigs, Bonnie (Charles) Romano, Candace (Arthur) Nash; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; special friends, Roger and Margaret Gallalee, Rose Jones, James and Janice Daniels.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Ronald Clyde McIntyre was held Monday, Nov. 6, 2017 at 12 p.m. from Ponders Calhoun Chapel, with Reverend A.J Walker and Reverend Walter Hare officiating. Musical arrangements were provided by Charles and Terannie Brumbelow. Interment followed at Canton National Cemetery with America Legion Post 112 of Dalton performing the graveside rites. Serving as pallbearers were Brock Bates, Bryce Bates, Nathanial Silvernail, Jim Silvernail, Taylor McIntyre and Lloyd Pack.

The family received friends Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017 at Ponders Calhoun Chapel from 5 until 9 p.m.

Richard Balde

Mr. Richard Michael Balde, age 53 of Fairmount, departed this life Monday, Oct. 30, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born July 14, 1964 in Elgin, Ill., the son of the late Fred Balde and the stepson of the late John Federer.

Mr. Richard Michael Balde is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sheila Mae Mckinney Balde; mother, Margaret Federer; son, Delmar (Christa) Ledford of Ranger; daughters, Amanda Ledford of Chatsworth, Crystal (Nick) Thurman of Fairmount; brothers, Fred Balde of Ootawah, Tenn., David (Sarah) Balde of Sheboygan, Wis.; sister, Denise (Steve) Perry of Elgart Lake, Wis., Sharon Rickeret of Maryville, Ga.; grandchildren, Becca Lynn Ledford, Cody Ledford, Matt Ledford, Katie Ledford, McKinley Thurman, Mckayla Thurman, many nieces and nephews.

It was Richard’s request that no service be held.

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.

Jimmy Easley

Jimmy Daniel Easley, 62, of Dalton, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017. He was born in Murray County on Nov. 9, 1954. He was preceded in by his father, Alvin Easley.

Jimmy was an avid bowler, who had many friends at J & M Lanes. He competed in many national bowling tournaments and was a softball player for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cynthia Easley; a daughter, Mira Easley Bookout; grandchildren, Haliegh Bookout and Carter Bookout; and his mother, Betty Horner Easley.

The funeral service was conducted on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 at 4 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Pastor Luke Morgan officiated. Burial followed at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

The Easley family received friends at the funeral home on Friday, Nov. 3 from 5 until 8 p.m.
