Gregory Bryan Stamey, 55, of Calhoun, departed this life on Saturday morning, Feb. 10, 2018 at Gordon Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Greg was born on Aug. 2, 1962 in Atlanta, a son of Mary Ellon Stamey and Robert “Bob” Joe Stamey.
He was a 1980 graduate of Calhoun High School, an avid fisherman, and absolutely loved the outdoors. Greg was especially fond of any animal, and loved and cared for many.
Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents, William Bryan and Grace Pass Stamey who were of the Calhoun area, and Messer William and Dola Crane Sheffield, who were of the Dawsonville community.
Greg is survived by his only child, his son, Max Bryan Stamey; Greg’s girlfriend of many years, Abigail Partin; his mother, Mary Ellon Stamey; his father and step-mother, Bob and Charlcie Stamey; brother and sister-in-law, Andy and Delorise Stamey; sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Reverend Brent Davis; nieces, Taya and Cana Davis; a step-sister, Kim and her husband James Clark; step-brother, Kelly and his wife Shonda Seabolt; many more aunts, uncles, cousins, family members, and friends also survive.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Greg Stamey was held on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018 at 6 p.m. from the Heritage Baptist Church in Calhoun with his brother-in-law Reverend Brent Davis officiating.
Greg’s family received friends at the Heritage Baptist Church on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018 from 3 p.m. until the service hour.
Honoring Greg’s wishes he will be cremated.

Martha Ann “Matzy” Desmond, age 62, passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Robert Graham Desmond and parents: Roy and Margie Pflughoeft.

Mr. Danny Lee Walraven, 52, of Dalton, departed this life on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving wife and family. Danny was born April 6, 1965 in Calhoun. He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Walraven, mother and stepfather, Betty and Colin B. Greene.
He is survived by his loving wife, Suzi Walraven of the residence; sons, Trey and Tucker Walraven; daughter, Taylor Walraven all of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Angie Walraven of Calhoun; niece, Kacee and Matt Peterson of Kennesaw; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Scott and Carol Long of Dalton; brother-in-law, Shawn and Samantha Long of Dalton; other family and friends also survived.
Memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Danny Lee Walraven will be held Thursday Feb. 15, 2018 at 7 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Brother David Nix and Brother Robert Bankston officiating. Bernice Conaway Bailey, 90, of Calhoun, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 at Calhoun Health Care. She was born in Plainville on Sept. 4, 1927, daughter of the late Miles and Mozelle Chastain Conaway. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Odell Bailey on Jan. 8, 1984; and her sisters, Nellie Bailey and Annie Lou Hensley.
During her lifetime, Bernice was employed with Gayley & Lord, formerly Burlington and Klopman Mills in Shannon, for 46 years.
Survivors include her son, Jack Bailey; her daughter, Barbara Justice, both of Calhoun; grandchildren, Candy (Marc) Brzozoski, and Shane (Tiffany) Watson; and great-grandchildren, Ryan and Ashlyn Brzozoski, and Lauren and Kate Watson.
Services to honor the life of Bernice Conaway Bailey were held Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment followed in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers included Steve Wright, Kerry Autry, Billy Thomas, Mike Johnson, Alan Byars, and Jerry Edwards.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Monday, Feb. 12 from 5 until 8 p.m.
