A Chickamauga woman was found dead on Saturday night and investigators are suspecting foul play.
At 6:45 p.m. on March 29, the Walker County sheriff’s deputies were called to 77 Mimosa Drive by neighbor concerned for an elderly woman.
Authorities found homeowner Joyce Ann Fowler, 75, deceased in the master bedroom, with signs of blunt force trauma to her head.
Witnesses stated that her grandson, 30-year-old Joshua Michael Fowler of LaFayette, was at the residence earlier Saturday morning.
A medical examiner places her estimated time of death “closely related” to the time in which the grandson was at the home, according to Walker County sheriff Steve Wilson.
Fowler was arrested for a parole violation warrant on Sunday at 5:30 a.m. at his residence in LaFayette.
He is considered a suspect in his grandmother’s murder, but has not been charged with the crime at this time, Wilson wrote in a news release.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigations and Walker County crime scene specialist spent Sunday afternoon processing Fowler’s 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe for additional evidence.
The GBI crime lab in Decatur, Ga., will perform the autopsy Monday morning.
