Michael Carroll Tippins was killed April 2, 2017 in an automobile wreck in Calhoun.
He was born on June 25, 1962 to Hilda Carter Thomas and the late Carroll Oscar Tippins.
He is survived by his wife Tammy Tippins and his two sons, Michael Carroll Tippins Jr., 19, Joseph Daryl Tippins, 14 and his step-daughter Jillian Peterson of Raeford, N.C. He had many brothers including Rusty, Dusty, Billy Allen, Curtis and Steve. He also had two sisters, Cindy Curtis and Wanda Sue.
He was also a member of Carpenters Union Local 225 out of Brunswick and was carpenter by trade. He worked at many places such as Georgia Power, Delta and Budweiser. For the past eight years, Mike worked for Dr. Larry Davis in Calhoun where they became very good friends.
Mike spent his days loving his sons and helping strangers who were down on their luck. He had two wonderful nephews, Phillip Jackson and Joseph Martin whom he loved very much. He had many friends and grew up in Baxley, Georgia and was raised by his grandparents Oscar and Willie Tippins. Eating southern food and messing around with his dogs and horses were a few things that Mike enjoyed greatly. He will be missed very much.
Cremation has taken place and his ashes laid to rest in Bethel Cemetery in Baxley, Ga.
Velma Bernice (Fritz) Ladage, age 82, of Calhoun Ga., went to sleep in Jesus on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Gordon Hospital surrounded by her family with last words to her family being “I will meet you in the morning.”
Velma was born on July 26, 1934 to the late James Arthur Wilson and Beulah Dunham Atwood in Petersburg, Illinois. She was a devoted member of the Calhoun Seventh-day Adventist Church where she once served as the Sabbath School secretary, volunteered at the Food Bank, Kitchen Coordinator and worked at the Church Kiosk. She was previously the receptionist at Tallatoona and worked at Charles C. Thomas which is a Frank Lloyd Wright House. Her most recent employment was with Gordon Hospital for 17 years as the ER Registration clerk. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three daughters Vicky Lee Hinds, Viola B. Kennett, Debra K. Bagby and brothers, Bill Wilson, Perry Wilson, Leroy Wilson, and Lester (Jim) Wilson.
She is survived by three sons, Guy and wife Debbie Fritz of Oakford, Ill., Lester Fritz of Springfield, Ill., John Ladage of Acworth, Ga., and son-in-law Arnie Hinds of Keystone Heights Fla.; daughter, Cathy Fritz of Calhoun; one brother, David Atwood; two sisters, Kathleen Leisman and Grace Earlene Caygill; Grandchildren that were close to her late in life were Abby Ladage, Ian Ladage, Brett Cohee, and great granddaughter Jaydynn Cohee; fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; great-godson Matty Thorsen, and his mother Bekah Thorsen, her “partner in crime” Juanita Sexton, and special friends Charli Cargile, Donna Hooper and Dorothy Sauder and many other church friends. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 16 at the Calhoun Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Ken Mittleider officiating

Ms. Maxine Florence Worley, age 64, of Calhoun, Ga., departed this life on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at the local hospital. Maxine was born Aug. 17, 1952 in Murphy, N.C., the daughter of the late Carl Truelove and Frances Carroll Truelove. Maxine was also preceded in death by her daughter Kahndi Florence.
Ms. Maxine Florence Worley is survived by her sons, Jason Florence and Terry (Kim) Worley, both of Calhoun; brother, Guy Truelove of Villanow; sister, Diane Bramlett of Calhoun; grandchildren, Eli Worley and Warren Worley, Matthew Jones.
Service to celebrate the life of Ms. Maxine Florence Worley was held Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 5 p.m. from Ponders Calhoun Chapel, with Brother George Cross officiating.

Janice Lee Edward Copeland, age 63, of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Floyd Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Janice was born on Aug. 22, 1953 in Floyd County. She was retired from Mannington Carpet. Janice is preceded in death by her step-father, Otto Walraven and a brother, Tony Edwards.
She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Walraven of Calhoun; son, Robert Copeland of Calhoun; a brother, Joey Walraven; sister, Pamela Franklin; four nieces, April Correll, Stephanie Walraven, Christian Walraven and Dawn Franklin; one nephew, Weston Walraven and cherished children Dusty Prevette and Haley Prevette as well as numerous aunts and uncles.
Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Minister Will Allen and Roger Burnley officiating. Burial will follow at Chandler Cemetery with Jonathan Defoor, Scott Waters, Jeremy Cooper, Chuck Crider, David Brown, Julian Brown, Greg Brown and Weston Walraven serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Jerry Lamar Gallman, age 73, of Chatsworth, passed away Tuesday April 18, 2017 at the Hamilton Medical Center.
He was of the Baptist Faith.
Mr. Gallman was a employee of Cornet\Beaulieu for over 50 years. After retirement he continued to persue his passion of restoring and repairing cars at Sane’s Body Shop in Dalton. He also loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors.
Mr. Gallman was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Lee and Tilda Leatherwood Gallman; sisters, Pamela Gallman Slaughter, Virginia Gallman Ballew and a step daughter Cindy Vogel Song.
Survivors include his wife, Trudy Rogers Gallman of the residence; son and daughter in law, Greg and Christie Gallman of Chatsworth; daughters and sons in law, Angela and Greg Starks of Loganville, Summer and Skyler Pittman of Rome; stepdaughter, Stacey Hill of Woodstock; brothers and sistes in law, Glen Gallman and Doug Gallman both of Calhoun, Larry and Reba Gallman, Bob Gallman all of Chatsworth and Tom and Marie Gallman of Ranger; Sisters and brother in law, Ruby Gallman of Chatsworth, Shirley and Larry Douglas of Varnell. grandchildren, Garrett and Easton Gallman, Dawn and Annika Starks. Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.
Funeral service for Mr. Gallman was Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Tatum officiating. Interment was in Sardis Cemetery. The family received friends on Wednesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
