Clara Mae Hatfield

Mrs. Clara Mae Hatfield, age 91, of Calhoun, died Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Gordon Hospital. She was born in Cherokee County, Ga. on April 9, 1926, daughter of the late Walter and Retha Marie McCoy Bohannon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nat Hatfield, in 1983; her son, Charles Hatfield; three brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Glenda Howren of Calhoun, Bobbie Harris of Cartersville, and Joyce and Marvin Blalock of Adairsville; seventeen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and twenty-seven great-great grandchildren.

Services to honor the life of Mrs. Clara Mae Hatfield were held Friday, April 28 at 4 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Joel Dupree officiating.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 27 from 5 until 7 p.m., and on Friday, April 28, from 1 p.m. until the service hour of 4 p.m.

Lindsey Foster

Lindsey Brooke Foster, age 22, of Fairmount, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 6, 2017. She was born in Floyd County on Feb. 3, 1995, daughter to Tim Foster and Vickey Buttrum Foster.

She was a member of Fairmount First Baptist Church. Lindsey was an Alumna of Sonoraville High School, and an Alumna of Phi Mu sorority at the University of North Georgia. She was currently attending Georgia Northwestern Technical College, pursuing a degree in the medical field.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Garland and Mary Lee Foster, and Raymond and Marnell Buttrum.

Lindsey was a happy, positive and beautiful young woman. She lived life to the fullest, and loved all her family and friends. In addition to college, she was employed by Ruby Tuesday in Calhoun.

She is survived by her parents, Tim and Vickey Foster of Fairmount; her love, Jake Hamrick of Adairsville; uncles, Tony Foster and his wife Monica of Houston, Texas, and Ray Buttrum and his wife Kimberly of Chatsworth; aunts, Teresa Eberly and her husband Nelson of Rydal, and Rita Lacey and her husband Matt of Fairmount; cousins, Ches Foster, Clara Foster, Joe Eberly, Jake Eberly, Emily Lacey, Carle Buttrum, and Tiffany Davis; and a special cousin, Gracie Charles. Other family and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Lindsey Brooke Foster will be conducted on Friday, May 12 at 1 p.m. from Fairmount First Baptist Church, with Rev. Rick Langston, Rev. Mark Owens, and Rev. Michael Yancey officiating. Lindsey’s body will lie in state at the church from 12 noon until the service hour. Music will be arranged by Leah Parker Roach. Burial will follow in Johnson Cemetery in Fairmount. Pallbearers serving will include Jake Hamrick, Tony Foster, Ches Foster, Ray Buttrum, Matt Lacey, Nelson Eberly, Joe Eberly, and Jake Eberly. Honorary pallbearers are Mylon Holbert and Clinton Childers.

Robert Henderson

Robert Paul “T.C.” Henderson, age 49, of Resaca, Georgia, departed this life Sunday, May 7, 2017 at the local hospital surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born March 13, 1968 in Marietta, the son of the late Robert Larry Henderson. Robert worked at RRR Transport, as a truck driver, traveling across the country with his faithful companion “Dillinger.” Robert enjoyed fishing and recently took up hunting.

Robert Paul “T.C.” Henderson is survived by his fiancé, D.J. Holcomb, they were to wed May 20, 2017; son, Dustin Henderson and his girlfriend, Demi McCowan of Resaca; daughter, Angel Henderson of Acworth; step-sons; Zarek Gill and his fiancé Destiny Cooper; Bradon Gill, all of Resaca; mother, Brenda Boswell Henderson Patton and step-dad, Glen Patton; brother, David Henderson of Calhoun, special nephew, Cody Adams; cousin, Lynn Morris; grandsons, Landon Chattam, Caleb, Hayden Gregory; granddaughter, Paisley Henderson; mother-in-law, Brenda Malia.

Service to celebrate the life of Robert Paul “T.C.” Henderson was held Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 2 p.m. from Ponders Calhoun Chapel, with Reverend Walter Hare officiating. Burial followed at Haven of Rest Cemetery with Dustin Henderson, Cody Adams, Zarek Gill, Eric Moulder, Bradon Gill and Matt Davis serving as pallbearers.

The family received friends on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Ponders Calhoun Chapel from 5 until 9 p.m. and from 11 a.m. on Thursday until the service hour.

Sanford Wyrick

Sanford “Sandy” Stanley Wyrick, age 89, of Calhoun, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at his residence.

Sanford was born on July 17, 1927 in Roane County, Tenn., and was the last surviving child of six of the late Henry Evan Wyrick and Hailey Elizabeth Drusilla Bailey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Smith Wyrick. He was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Rhinehart University Class of 1949, and was an Army Veteran of WWII. Sanford was an artist and cartoonist. He enjoyed gardening and was a master gardener.

He is survived by two daughters, Debra Kent and her husband, Tom, of Marietta, and Teresa Andrews and her husband, Dan, of Somerset, Ky.; three grandchildren, Brett Houston and his wife, Lauren Golden, of Denver, Colo., Eric Andrews of Somerset, Ky. and Christopher Carter and his wife, Niki, of Canton; and one great-grandson, Sean Carter.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, May 13 at 2 p.m. from Bethesda Baptist Church with Reverend Wesley Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by the Chatsworth American Legion.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home.

Merle Bennett

Merle Bennett, age 56, of Sugar Valley, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 in Gordon Hospital.

Merle was born on Jan. 4, 1961 in Youngstown, Ohio to Emerson Leroy Bennett and Betty Jean Stanley Bennett. He was employed for 32 years at Astro Dye, where he served as a supervisor. He attended Calvary Baptist Church of Sugar Valley. Merle loved riding motorcycles, and was a loving husband and father.

Merle is survived by his parents, Leroy and Betty Bennett; wife, Pat Brown Bennett; son, Skyler Bennett; and sister, Shirley Spearman, all of Sugar Valley.

Funeral Services were conducted on Thursday, May 11 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Dwaine Shadix officiating. Burial followed in Chandler Cemetery with Paul Underwood, Robert Stone, Samuel Brown, John Davis and Rex Burchett serving as pallbearers.

The family received friends on Wednesday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home.
