Mr. Tommy David Davenport, age 74, of Calhoun, departed this life on Wednesday evening, Aug. 2, 2017 at the Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton. Tommy was born Sept. 19, 1942 in Fannin County, a son of the late Reverend Warren and Anna Mae Brown Davenport. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Evelyn Tuggle Davenport who died June 26, 2017, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Millard and Gladys Austin Tuggle and a sister-in-law, Colene Casey.
Tommy was a 1960 graduate of Valley Point High School. Tommy proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Dow Chemical. He was a member of Sugar Valley Baptist Church.
He is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Wesley Davenport of Calhoun, Bill and Cindy Davenport of Dalton; grandchildren, Josh and Emily Kinsey, Justin Davenport and Josiah Davenport; great-grandson, Kayden Davenport; brothers and sisters-in-law, Phil and Deborah Davenport of Rocky Face, Rick and Judy Davenport, Jim and Bunny Davenport all of Dalton; sister, Annette Davenport of Newnan; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Brenda and Jess Roegner, Helen and Roy Ingle all of Resaca; several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Tommy David Davenport were held Saturday morning, Augu. 5, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Sugar Valley Baptist Church with Reverend Mitch Phillips and Reverend Delmar Davenport officiating. He was laid to rest at Chandler Cemetery with Josh Kinsey, Justin Davenport, Mitch Hasty, Scott Whitener, Jody Davenport and Jeff Fowler serving as pallbearers.
The family received friends at Sugar Valley Baptist Church from 5 until 9 p.m. Friday evening and after 10 a.m. Saturday morning until the service hour.
Elmer Silvers, 84, of Ranger, died at his home on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, following several months of declining health. Elmer was born in Rome on Oct. 2, 1932; he was the son of the late Joe and Mamie Stone Silvers. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Elmer worked for many years at Ranger Rugs and retired from Ed Lacey Mills. He was a member of Resaca Tabernacle.
Elmer is survived by his wife of more than 56 years, Della Mae Silvers; his son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Cindy Silvers; his daughters, Cathy Edwards and her fiancé, Larry Lincoln, and Betty Ann Stewart; his grandchildren, Steven (Ginny) Edwards, Jason (Missy) Mullins, Brian (Nicole) Edwards, Jeremy (Crystal) Mullins, and Cody (Autumn) Silvers; his sister, Annis Mulkey; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The Silvers family received friends on Monday, Aug. 7, 2017 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service followed the visitation on Monday at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel. Burial followed at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Ed Silvers will officiate. Pallbearers were Jason Mullins, Jeremy Mullins, Cody Silvers, Steven Edwards, Larry Lincoln, and Tanner Gossett.

Jewel Knight Marchionda, age 92, of Calhoun, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017 at her residence.
Jewel was born on Sept. 24, 1924 in Pensacola, Fla. to the late George Vernon Knight and Mattie Mae Stokes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Armando “Max” Ceasar Marchionda; and her sister, Carolyn Joyce Knight Clines; brother, James “Dick” Knight; and brother-in-law, Dewey Clines. She was a member of St. Clement’s Catholic Church. Jewel, along with her husband, Max, were owner and operator of the Antique Shop for more than 14 years.
Jewel is survived by her two nieces, Cindy Clines of Rydal, and Nancy “Teddie” Preston of Livermore, CA; and great-niece, Stacy Preston of Tucker, GA.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Father Louis Tonsmeire officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until the funeral hour at 3 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home.
