Barry McMilleon

Barry McMilleon, age 45 of Salem, Ala. and formerly of Calhoun, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 in Emory University Hospital.

Barry was born on Oct. 19, 1971 in Hodge, La., a son of Samuel Barry McMilleon and the late Edna Scott Paul. He was employed by Letica Corporation of Selma.

Barry is survived by his wife, Tanya James McMilleon of Selma, father, Samuel Barry McMilleon of Merrouge, Louisiana; three brothers, Barry Allen McMilleon and his wife, Renee of Louisiana; Sandy Wayne Morris and his wife Carol of Northport, Alabama, and Danny Morris of Calhoun; two sisters, Sherry Machowski and Heather McMilleon Trichell and her husband Shane of Louisiana; numerous nieces and nephews, a great niece and a great nephew.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, March 11, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Chad Terry and Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Carmen Green will have charge of music. Burial will be in Haven of Rest Memorial Park

The family will receive friends on Friday, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Tony Walker, Chris Scott, Christopher Perry, Donald Thomason, Danny Hicks, and Darin Hardin. They are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:45 p.m. Saturday.

Nancy Jackson

Nancy Jane Jackson, age 90, of Calhoun and formerly of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away Wednesday morning, March 8 in the Gordon Health Care Center.

Nancy was born Aug. 7, 1926 in Smith County, Mississippi, daughter of the late Daniel Herman Landrum and Rena Adcox Landrum. She was a homemaker and member of the Baptist faith. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Willard Jackson, Jr..

Survivors include four sons, Clyde Willard Jackson, Jr., of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, Shelton Ray Jackson of San Antonio, Dennis Eugene Jackson of Biloxi, and Ronald Glyn Jackson of Calhoun; two daughters, Barbara Jackson and Sandra Jackson both of Calhoun, nine grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Four sisters, Margie Neel Carr, Hazel Cummings, Betty Jean Jones, and Pauline Anderson; one brother Billy Frank Landrum also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted next week in Gulfport, Mississippi, by Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home at 1726 15th Street, Gulfport, MS, 39501.

Greg McEntyre

Gregory (Greg) Eugene McEntyre passed away on March 1, 2017, due to complications of open heart surgery. He was born Nov. 9, 1960. He was preceded in death by his mother Jackie Smith McEntyre, grandmother Mabel Foster Smith Everett, grandmother Pearl Ray McEntyre, and grandfather Wayne McEntyre, Sr.

Greg graduated from Calhoun High School in 1979. He was co-owner/operator in Mcsystems and was a member of the Calhoun Church of Christ.

Wherever Greg went he brought joy and laughter to everyone, and he was deeply loved by his family and friends. He loved Georgia Tech athletics, the Calhoun Yellow Jackets, his cross fit family, and traveling with his family and friends. Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He lived life to the fullest. He was the life of the party and never met a stranger. His kind, giving, and compassionate heart was always willing to help anyone in need, and he will be greatly missed by the countless number of those he touched and impacted over the course of his life.

Greg is survived by his father Wayne (Pruney) McEntyre, Jr, son and daughter in law, Corey and Lauren McEntyre, son Robert McEntyre, and daughter Kacee McEntyre. He is also survived by a very special sister, Melody McEntyre West, and two very special nephews, Clay and Tyler West, who adored him like a father.

He is also survived by his aunt, Kayanne Smith Walraven and uncle, Jerry Foster Smith. He is survived by many cousins that he loved as brothers and sisters: Jeffrey Smith, Randy and Valerie Jackson, Frank and Summer Mills, George and Ginger Walraven, and Grant and Julie Walraven. He was like an uncle to their children and grandchildren.

The service that honored the life of Gregory Eugene McEntyre was conducted on Saturday, March 4 at 3 p.m. at the Calhoun Church of Christ, with Rev. Frank Mills officiating. Corey McEntyre, Robert McEntyre, Kacee McEntyre, and Kelley Finnell provided eulogies. Interment followed at Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers that served included Jacin Bagwell, Roger Causby, John Christian, Steve Godwin, Alan Holcomb, Toby Holland, Ben McCormick, Kirk Robbins, Mike Tinch and George Walraven.

Ruth Dennis

Mrs. Ruth Elaine (MacIntyre) Dennis of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 , after an extended illness, surrounded by her family.

Ruth was born on Dec. 9, 1945 in Oneonta, N.Y. She has joined her siblings Sonny (Karl) MacIntyre, Dorothy MacIntyre, Betty MacRae, and baby Richard MacIntyre in Heaven, where she is praising Jesus and doing an Irish Jig. She could not wait to go home and be with the Lord and her loved ones.

Mrs. Dennis was woman of faith and loved her church family at Bethsada Baptist Church of Calhoun, where she especially loved her pastor, Wesley Hunt. She also was involved in several ministries over the years in Calhoun, and was the clothing coordinator at Covenant House Ministries. She loved Vacation Bible school and taught the little ones, and loved her Sunday School group .

She worked as a laundress at Richardson Road Laundromat in Calhoun, where she had a laundry business, and was a retired beautician formerly with Heavenly Hair Salon, where she was co-owner.

We will miss her terribly, she was the matriarch of our family. We will miss her contagious laugh, her Godly counsel, her sweet smile, her bubbly personality and we celebrate her life and rejoice with her that she has finished the race and kept the faith. She is home at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Mrs. Dennis is survived by her daughter, Julie Ann Walter Healy; her son-in-law, Richard J. Healy; her son, Gregory Paul Dennis and her daughter-in-law, Kyndall Diane (Smith) Dennis. She was the proud nana of four grandchildren, Daniel Healy, Michael Healy, Makinsey Dennis and Raegan Dennis.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 12, at 12:30 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Luncheon following at 1 p.m. at the Bethesda Baptist Church, 146 Bethesda Church Road, NE, Calhoun GA. All friends and family are encouraged to bring your favorite covered dish to the luncheon.

Lori Moss

Lori Moss, age 50 of Calhoun, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at her residence.

Lori was born on Oct. 4, 1966 in Whitfield County to Helen Greeson Moss Stewart and the late Douglas W. “Pete” Moss.

Lori is survived by her mother and step-father, Helen Moss Stewart and Carlton Stewart; brother, Jimmy Moss and his wife, Dale; niece, April Moss Thomas and her husband Robin; two nephews, Jamie Moss and Joey Moss and his wife Lauren; two great-nephews, Trae Murrell and Rhett Moss. Lori is also remembered with love by her Stewart siblings, Kent and Debbie Stewart, Carla and Chuck Watkins and Tim and Brenda Stewart.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, March 10, at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dale Moss officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Chapel Cemetery with Reverend James Cobb officiating.

Pallbearers serving will be Joey Moss, Jamie Moss, Trae Murrell, Robert Thomas, Donald Dempsey, David Howerton, Jeff Greeson and Todd Causby.

The family received friends on Thursday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home.

Infant Jazmine Rose Stone, age 3 ½ months, died Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Gordon Hospital. She was born in Gordon County on Nov. 9, 2016.

Funeral services for Infant Jazmine Rose Stone was held Thursday, March 9 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Barry Brock and Father Joseph Shaute officiating. Interment followed in Hill City Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving included Martin Hernandez and Douglas Harmon.
