As the foursome charged in connection with the death of a Calhoun man prepare for a court appearance, the mother of the alleged victim is raising money in her son’s honor.

John Wood Jr., 22, who lived in a 373 Baker Road apartment, was reported missing July 28, days after authorities believe he was killed in Gordon County during a robbery.

Wood’s mother, Sherry Ainsworth of Pickens County, started a Smile Train fundraiser, “Smiles from an Angel, the John Wood effect,” at smiletrain.org.
