The Northwest Georgia Council, Boy Scouts of America, held its 3rd annual Calhoun Patron Lunch on Wednesday, April 23 at the Calhoun campus of Northwest Georgia Technical College.

This year the Boy Scouts honored Johnny Parker as its Distinguished Citizen of Gordon County for his “unselfish service and devotion” to the residents of Gordon County. Judge Richie Parker was the guest speaker at the event. Previous recipients of the Gordon Distinguished Citizen award include Phil Robbins and Bill Mathews.

The Patron Lunch, an annual fundraising event hosted by a committee made up of several local community leaders, was attended by more than 40 invitees, and raised over $12,000 of the $23,000 overall goal.

“Our Annual Patron Lunch gives us the opportunity to showcase our local Scouting programs as well as recognize a great Community Leader: Johnny Parker,” Rodney Mathis, chair of the 2014 event, said.

Several local companies including Prater Ford, Alexandria International, Duvan Brock Tax Services and C.W. BARRETT COMPANY sponsored the luncheon.
