Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Georgia has embarked on a three-month Awareness Campaign to gain support of the agency’s mentoring programs in Gordon County. BBBS hopes to recruit volunteers for the 45 children on the waiting list through a series of presentations at various businesses and civic organizations across the county.

Amelia Slaughter, of Calhoun, and Michael Harrell of Cohutta were married on May 22 at the Varnell United Methodist Church in Varnell. The bride is the daughter of Monty and Diana Slaughter of Calhoun and the groom is the son of Dan and Debbie Harrell of Cohutta.
Logan Margaret Powers and Wesley Harold Alexander were married Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Church Street United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Rev. Sarah E. Moody officiated the 5 p.m. exchange of vows. Music was provided by Shannon Prince Dann, soloist and cousin of the groom, and Raina Wood, organist.
Dana Williams of Ranger and Justin Laudermilk were married on Nov. 28 in Gatlinburg, Tenn. The bride is the daughter of Sheila and Tracey Mcentyre of Calhoun and Wayne Williams of Sweet-water, Tenn. The groom is the son of Carl and Karen Laudermilk of Resaca and Audrea Laudermilk of Chatsworth.
Wylene Cantrell and Kin Mixon were united in marriage on August 22, 2009 at a beautiful outdoor ceremony at eleven o’clock in the morning at The Long Family Cabin in Ranger. Michael Yancey officiated the ceremony.
Mr. and Mrs. John Hall and Ms. Elaine Thompson, all of Calhoun, announce the marriage of their children Kristen Marie Hall and Billy Lee Thompson. The couple was married on Sept. 12, 2009 in a private ceremony and now reside in Calhoun.
Kyna Charisse McBee and Ricky Harold Parker, both of Calhoun, were wed on Sept. 19, 2009 at 3 p.m. at the Chattanooga Choo-Choo. The outside ceremony was held in the gardens and the Rev. Noel Pennington officiated.

Ashley Suzanne Reeves and Joshua Kane Everett were married Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 7 p.m. The Home Place in Calhoun was the setting for the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Thomas and Sue Reeves of Calhoun. She is the granddaughter of Annell Hall, the late Gene Hall, Marvin and Gladys Reeves, all of Calhoun. She is employed by Calhoun City Schools, where she currently teaches second grade.
Allison Starr Holcomb and Wesley Andrew Davis of Calhoun were united in marriage June 6, 2009 at a beautiful outdoor ceremony at six o’clock in the evening at The Farm at Hickory Ridge of Adairsville. Pastor Eddie Brannon officiated the ceremony. The vocalist was Monty Powell, with a chosen selection of music dedicated to Allison and Andrew during the Bride’s Processional and the Unity Ceremony. An outdoor tent reception immediately followed with dinner and music. Guests at the after party enjoyed music and dancing provided by Babe’s Bayou.
