Gordon County is one of 82 Georgia communities to receive a total of $39.7 million in grant funding.
Gov. Nathan Deal announced Tuesday the communities will receive the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development funding to Georgia’s Community Development Block Grant program, which is administered by the Department of Community Affairs.
Gordon County will use its $500,000 award to remodel and add space to the George Chambers Resource Center, 1000 Ga. Highway 53 Spur SW in Calhoun, said County Clerk Annette Berry. The grant application cited an outdated design, space limitations that restrict programs and the number of individuals it serves, and safety issues.
