Gordon Central’s Hendrix chosen as representative for Georgia Girls State

Haven Hendrix has been chosen as the 2018 Georgia Girls State Representative from Gordon Central High School.

Hendrix, the daughter of Jason and Celeste Hendrix, is a junior at Gordon Central, where she participates in many activities, including Extemporaneous Speech for the Literary Team, Chick-fil-A Leader Academy, Theater and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

As the Girls State Representative, Hendrix will spend a week at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, where she and young ladies from around the state will participate in a course of instruction in, as well as a practical application of, the fundamental principles and procedures of the city, county and state government under the American system.

Georgia Girls State is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, as it has been since the program first began in 1940. Hendrix is pictured with Linda Whittenburg, president of the Unit 47 Paul Gwin American Legion Auxiliary; Dr. Joann Meadows, chairman for the Girls State program at the local unit and for the Seventh District American Legion Auxiliary; her mother, Celeste Hendrix, and nominating teacher, Renee Hughes.
