Gordon Central High School Performing Arts won the GHSA Region 7-AA One Act Play competition held at Model High School.
With their performance of "Jekyll & Hyde, the musical" the Warriors maintained their status as the Region 7-AA champs and advance to the state contest on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 at Baldwin High School in Milledgeville. April Price, a junior at GCHS, was selected as the Best Actress in the Region.
"The directing staff of Gordon Central is very proud of these fine performers," said Dr. Kim Watters. "Telling a great story is the center of our program. Their ability to perform such difficult music, combined with choreography, costumes, make-up, an interactive set, and a unique lighting design have equipped them to do justice to this goal." Watters, Mike Earnest, new technical theatre and acting coach, Richard Bristow, costume designer Susan Skaggs and choreographer Debbie Mixon all give credit to this hard working, ambitious group of student performers. "Our technical team is dynamic in helping create the scenes that allow the performers to tell the story," said Watters. "We are so blessed to have these sweet, talented kids, their families, and supporters as part of the GC Performing Arts Family."
The cast and crew of "Jekyll & Hyde, the musical" invite you to see the show on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. or Thursday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. Tickets at the door will be $10. All proceeds help cover the expenses of state competition.
